Americans Abroad: Bocanegra and Davies in midweek games
There was a light midweek schedule for Americans Abroad with Charlie Davies playing for Hammarby on and Carlose Bocanegra for Stade Rennais on Wednesday.
Charlie Davies (ST) – Hammary IF – Swedish Allsvenskan – Davies started and played the full game for Hammarby as they drew 2-2 with GAIS. He currently has 2 goals in 6 games and Hammarby is 13th in the league table with 5 points.
Carlos Bocanegra (LB) – Stade Rennais (Rennes) – France Ligue 1 – After Rennes weekend semifinal victory to reach the finals of the French Cup, the team had a disappointing loss against Bordeaux. The team scored early in the match and Bordeaux’s Marc Planus was given a red card in the 27th minute. Even with the man advantage, Rennes couldn’t hold the lead and gave up 2 goals to Yoann Gourcuff, including the game winner in stoppage time. Bocanegra gave up a foul just outside the box that resulted in a goal from the free kick. Overall, Stade Rennais played a loose game defensively but still remains in 7th in the Ligue 1 table. Bocanegra has started and played every game for Rennes in Ligue 1 this season.
