Live Game Blog: English Football Assocation (FA) Cup Final – Everton v Chelsea – May 30, 2009

Spain Soccer Champions LeagueEverton and Chelsea will face each other in the English FA Cup Final with both teams looking for their first trophy of the season. The match is set to take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday May, 30, 2009.

Match Preview

This will be Guus Hiddink’s last game as manager of Chelsea after taking over in the middle of the season. He’s been able to stabilize Chelsea and a solid third place finish and nearly making it to the Champions League final. However the team has yet to win a trophy this season and a win the FA Cup Final would a great finish. Didier Drogba has been inconsistent and will need to team with up with Nicolas Anelka to put pressure on the Everton defense.

For Everton, the team has had another solid season, finishing in 5th place, and earned a Europa League spot for next season. American goalkeeper Tim Howard has been in great form this season and will provide a solid defense for Everton. Against Manchester United in the finals, Everton was able to frustrate the Red Devils and will need to do the same against Chelsea.

Everton will look to play defensively, and take their chances to score on the counterattack. Chelsea will be the favorite but it should be a very close match.
