The 2nd set of matches in Group A took place Tuesday night with Canada against El Salvador and Costa Rica against Jamaica. Here’s a recap of both matches along with video highlights.

Canada beats El Salvador 1-0 – Video Highlights – Canada remained unbeaten in group play and now leads Group A with 6 points after 2 matches. It was a similar result to their first match, with a goal from Ali Berba in the 31st minute to seal the victory. Overall it was an even match between two similar clubs but Canada was able to score the gamewinner and hold on defensively. Canada is almost a lock to make the quarterfinals while El Salvador still has some work to do.

Costa Rica tops Jamaica 1-0 – Video Highlights – Costa Rica recovered from an opening round loss to El Salvador with a 1-0 victory against Jamaica on Tuesday night. The match remained scoreless at halftime and Costa Rica took the lead in the 2nd with a 63rd minute goal from Celso Borges Mota. It was a much neede win for Costa Rica who still have a good chance to make the quarterfinals but still could need points in their last group stage match. Jamaica is unlikely to finish anything higher than last in the group and little chance of making the quarterfinals.
