The CONCACAF Champions League Qualifying round continued with second legs this week to decide who will make the Group Stage. On Wednesday W Connection took on the New York Red Bulls and Cruz Azul faced Herediano. Here’s a recap of both matches along with video highlights.
W Connection advances past the NY Red Bulls 2-1 (4-3 on aggregate) – Video Highlights
The Red Bulls took an early load on an 18th minute goal from John Wolyniec but two goals from Andre Toussaint sent W Connection through to the next round. New York couldn’t hold onto the lead and continues to struggle this season in all competitions (most noticable MLS).
Cruz Azul advances past Herediano 0-0 (6-2 on aggregate) – Video Highlights
Mexican side Cruz Azul had a 6-2 lead going into the second leg and easily advanced with a scoreless draw on Wednesday night. With a huge lead it was doubtful that Herediano would be able to win by a 4 goal margin in the second leg and they were unable to get anything.
