English Carling Cup Round 2 Recap and Video Highlights: Wednesday August 26, 2009 – Stoke, Newcastle, WBA, and Tottenham advance

Most of the Premier League teams advanced including Tottenham and Stoke City while Wigan fell 1-4 to Blackpool. Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s matches along with video highlights. English Carling Cup Round 2 Recap – Wednesday August 26, 2009

Tottenham Hotspur continued their impressive start with a 5-1 road win against Doncaster as they got goals from Crouch, O’Hara, Huddlestone, Bentley, and Pavlyuchenko. Wigan had a very disappointing result as they lost 1-4 on the road and could only manage a 90th minute goal. West Bromwich Albion just barely advanced as it went to extra time and they had to score two goals to advance 4-3. Newcastle United was another Championship just advanacing as they came from behind and had three second half goals. Other teams advancing were Cardiff winnning 3-1 over Bristol Rovers, Carlisle United topping Bristol city, and Stoke City beating Leyton Orient 1-0 on the road.
