The European preseason is wrapping up for the Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A as teams played their final warm-ups on the weekend. In England, Napoli faced West Ham United and Atletico Madrid visited Liverpool. Here’s a recap of both matches along with video highlights.
Atletico Madrid tops Liverpool 2-1 – Video Highlights
Atletico took an early lead and held on against Liverpool for a 2-1 victory at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The first goal came from Sergio Aguero to make it 1-0 for Atletico in the 15th minute. Liverpool struggled to convert chances and seem to lack the cutting edge in the final third throughout the match. Atletico Madrid doubled their lead before the end of the first half with a goal from Diego Forlan in the 33rd minute. The first half ended at 2-0. It wasn’t until the 82nd minute that Liverpool found the back of the net with a goal from Lucas Leiva in the 82nd minute. It was too late as they were unable to get the equalizer and the match ended at 2-1 for Atletico Madrid.

Napoli beats West Ham United 1-0 – Video Highlights
Both teams had chances but Napoli were able to score a late 2nd half goal to win 1-0 on Saturday at West Ham. The first half was scoreless as neither team could find the back of the net. The second half picked up and West Ham still couldn’t convert on any chances as Napoli held form. Finally in the 78th minute, Napoli took the lead with a goal from Fabio Quagliarella.
