The match was fairly even to start as FC Lyn has the first shot on goal but Liverpool was able to score at the end of the first half and never look back. Each team had chances and Olso nearly took the lead as Jo Berget had a shot on that just hit the post. Liverpool responded in the final minutes of the first half as Voronin would head it past the keeper for a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The second half saw Liverpool continue to threaten and Daid Ngog scored in the 58th minute to seal the match. Gerrard and Torres were late second half substitutes but neither was able to score as the match finished 2-0.
