FC Barcelona beats the Seattle Sounders FC 4-0 – Video Highlights
Two goals from Lionel Messi in the first half were the difference as the beat the Seattle Sounders 2-0 in a friendly on Wednesday night. Barcelona had control of the match from the start as they held most of the possession and scoring chances. Seattle was able to counterattack a few times and had chances but they weren’t able to convert any. Steve Zakuani was probably the most dangerous player for the Sounders in the first half as he utilized his speed on the wing. He was able to create some chances for the home team but nothing was converted. Barcelona was dangerous from the start and continued to get good pressure on the Sounders defense.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring with a nice shot to the upper corner just outside the box as Kasey Keller had little chance to save it. The first half continued and Messi scored another as he got behind the defense, received a pass, and was able to beat Keller between the legs. The second half saw both teams sub out almost their entire teams as the pace slowed down significantly. Neither team was able to score early in the second half but both had chances. In the 75th minute Barcelona made it 3-0 with a goal from Jeffren Suarez as the match winded down. In the last few minutes Barcelona continued to work hard and scored one more as Pedro Rodriguez made it 4-0 in the 89th minute.
The home crowd provided a great atmosphere and it was not dominated by Barcelona fans (which was the case against the Galaxy). Barcelona continues their US tour with a match against Chivas on Saturday.
