The 2009-10 German Bundesliga season began this weekend with a full set of matches. 2009-09 Champions Wolfsburg started their season off strong with a solid 2-0 victory against Stuttgart. Here’s a recap of Week 1 one matches, video highlights, and the latest league table.

Wolfsburg starts off strong

The 2008-09 Bundesliga champions won 2-0 at home and will be looking to repeat. But the question is can they put together another championship season? It’s only one week and hard to tell yet.  Other teams that had nice victories in the opening weekend were Schalke on the road, Frankurt at Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund, and Herther Berlin.

It’s very early

Who knows who will win this year’s Bundesliga or be battling relegation as its extremely early. For teams like Borussia Monchengladbach that just survivd last season, it’s not a good sign to give up a 3-0 lead in the first week. Bayern Munich is arguably the most talented and deepest team each but can they perform up to their level or will they underacheive?
