The Italian Serie A kicked off its 2009-10 season on Saturday with two matches. The first was Bologna v Fiorentina and the other was Siena v AC Milan. The majority of the matches are set for Sunday. Here’s a recap of Saturday’s matches along with video highlights.
Bologna and Fiorentina draw 1-1 – Video Highlights
Bologna and Fiorentina opened up their 2009-10 Serie A season with a 1-1 draw. Bologna, playing at home, took a first half lead on a 24th minute goal from Pablo Daniel Osvaldo. Fiorentina was the more aggressive team as they had 60% of possession, 17 shots (5 on goal), but were unable to find the equalizer but halftime. The second half saw Fiorentina continue to push for the goal which would come from Adrian Mutu in the 65th minute. The last 20 minutes remained tied at 1-1 as both teams opened the season with a draw.
AC Milan beats Siena 2-1 – Video Highlights
AC Milan started off their season with a road victory as they beat Siena 2-1. Both goals for Milan came from Pato, one in the 29th minute and the other in the 48th minute. Siena temporarily tied the game after Pato’s first with a 34th minute goal from Ghezzal but Milan score the early 2nd half goal to win. They controlled over two-thirds of the possesion but Siena had chances as they had 15 shots (4 on goal).
