Americans Abroad: Kenny Cooper scores, Tim Howard gets a clean sheet, and EJ gets a start for Fulham

7099153There was a full schedule of matches in the top European leagues in the midweek with the English Carling Cup, German DFB-Pokal, Serie A, and La Liga all in action. Kenny Cooper played for 1860 Munich and continues to impress as he scored a goal while Tim Howard remains a solid goalkeeper for Everton. Kenny Cooper (ST) – 1860 Munich – beat Hertha Berlin 2-2 (4-1 in penalties) – Video Highlights

Cooper scored another goal for 1860 Munich in the German DFB-Pokal and he now as 3 goals in 7 matches. The American striker is fitting in well with the German Bundesliga 2 side and should be attracting attention from larger clubs in the winter transfer window. He scored the goal in the 50th minute as he got a pass on the counterattack just outside the box and hit a nice shot to the upper corner that beat the goalkeeper.

Tim Howard (GK) – Everton – beat Hull City 4-0 – Video Highlights

Howard played the full match and had 6 saves as he kept a clean sheet for Everton in the English Carling Cup over Hull City. Everton have been in great form recently with convincing wins in the Premiership, Europa League, and not the Carling Cup.

Eddie Johnston (ST) – Fulham – lost to Manchester City 1-2 – Video Highlights

EJ played 90 minutes as the match went to extra time and he was subbed out in the 91st minute. The American did not have a great match and is still slowly getting playing time as he tries to prove he can make in the Premiership. With Fulham in the Europa League and FA Cup as well as the Premier League, he should get more chances to prove himself.
