Chelsea had their second match of the UEFA Champions League at APOEL as they looked to go 2-0. The English club controlled most of the first half and would get the lead in the 18th minute.
Nicolas Anelka scored with a right footed shot to the top left corner as Chelsea would hold onto their 1-0 lead during the first half. APOEL had only three shots in the first half, none on goal, and didn’t seem able to win the match. The first half ended with a solid lead for Chelsea who seemed ready to extend their lead in the second half.
Chelsea continued to be the stronger team against APOEL but had trouble find any goals in the second half. As with their first UEFA Champions League match, it wasn’t a dominating performance but enough to get the win.
Chelsea is now 2-0-0 in group play.
