CONCACAF 2010 WCQ Recap, Video Highlights, and latest standings: Wednesday, September 9, 2009

SPORTS-US-SOCCER-CONFEDERATIONS-SPAINThe CONCACAF Region had another set of matches in World Cup Qualifying with the United States traveling to Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico hosting Honduras, and El Salvador hosting Costa Rica. With the standings in the hexagonal closer than ever between the top 4 teams, each match has increasing significance. Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s match along with video highlights.

CONCACAF 2010 World Cup Qualifying Recap

The traditional powers of CONCACAF, the United States and Mexico, both had wins as they moved to the top two spots in the hexagonal standings. Both teams had 1-0 victories and are in great position to lock up spots if they can win their final matches or get a draw/win combination. Costa Rica lost their second match in a row at El Salvador and is now in 4th place. Trinidad & Tobago’s chances are over as they failed to win against the USA and only have 5 points. Overall, only 4 points separate the top 4 teams with two maches left.
