CONCACAF Champions League Recap and Video Highlights: Wednesday, September 16, 2009
The CONCACAF Champions League continued on Wednesday with three more group stage matches. The Columbus Crew visited faced Saprissa, Pachuca hosted the Houston Dynamo, and Pumas traveled to W Connection. It’s about halfway through the group stage with the Columbus Crew the only MLS team in position to advance to the quarterfinals. There are still three more matches left for most teams so there’s time for teams to move up in the group standings. Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s matches along with video highlights.
Columbus Crew beats Saprissa 1-0 – Video Highlights
The Columbus Crew got a much needed win behind an early goal from Eddie Gaven against Saprissa on Wednesday night. That was all the Crew needed as they were able to hold Saprissa scoreless for the rest of the match. The win puts Columbus second in their group, 1 point behind Cruz Azul.

Pachuca tops Houston Dynamo 2-0 – Video Highlights
Pachuca dominated the Dynamo with a 2-0 win at home to on Wednesday night. Houston was down 0-1 after only 26 minutes and in more early in the second half. Dominic Oduro, who had received a yellow card earlier, was ejected in stoppage time of the first half. Playing a man down for the entire second half, the Dynamo would concede another goal and never have a chance in the match. Pachuca dominated the stats and shots on goal in the match.

W Connection and Pumas play to 2-2 draw – Video Highlights
W Connection and Mexican side Pumas played to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night. The home side, W Conneciton, took the lead in the 22nd minute and appeared to be heading for a win. They took a 1-0 lead late into the second half until Pumas scored in the 86th minute to tie it up. Connection quickly responded with a goal 3 minutes later which appeared to be the match winner. Unfortunately for Connection, Pumas scored in the 90th minute to tie it up at 2-2. The match would end as a 2-2 draw.
