English Premier League Recap – Saturday, September 12, 2009

Manchester United got a solid win at Tottenham Hotpsur on the road to show they are ready to defend their Premier League title while Chelsea and Man City remained perfect. Tottenham looked ready to take down Man U as they scored early but they couldn’t score again as United won 3-1. Even after Paul Scholes made a bad tackle (was ejected) and gave Tottenham a man advantage, it didn’t make a difference.

Chelsea won again on a late goal at Stoke City to remain undefeated. While they’ve had to rely on a few late goals against some of the weaker clubs, they are still getting results and look ready to challenge Man U for the league trophy. Man City beat Arsenal 4-2 as they also are undefeated. Both teams are looking strong but it is still early and hard to tell where they will be in May.

Overall, it’s hard to tell if Man City can keep it up and what teams will be in the race for the league trophy. One team that is definitely struggling is Hull City, who have a 1-3-3 record and appear to be in a season long relegation battle. Here’s the list of fixtures from Saturday and video highlights.
