English Premier League Recap – Saturday, September 13, 2009
Fulham defeated Everton on two second half goals while Aston Villa got a late goal to beat Birmingham City. Fulham, who finished 7th last season, has struggled early this season. One of the reasons for their success last year was their great record at home, and they continued that with a 2-1 win over Everton. The away side grabbed the lead in the first half but Fulham rallied back in the second half on goals from Damien Duff and Paul Konchesky.
Aston Villa needed a win to keep pace with the top teams in the league table and got one thanks to a late goal from Gabriel Agbonlahor in the 85th minute. It was a fairly even match with both teams having about the same number of shots and possession. Villa is now 6th in the league table, tied with Liverpool and Sunderland with 9 points.
