FIFA 2010 World Cup Qualifying Preview – Matches to watch – Wednesday, September 9, 2009
It’s another set of FIFA 2010 World Cup Qualifying matches on Wednesday with key matches. In Europe (UEFA), England can clinch an automatic spot while other countries such as Scotland (UEFA) look to keep their chances alive. Here’s a list of the matches to watch in all of the regions in World Cup Qualifying on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 (all times listed are USA Eastern Standard Time).
UEFA (Europe) Region
England v Croatia – 3:00 PM (Video Preview) – England can clinch an automatic spot and will have a packed stadium at Wembley. It should be a great match.
Serbia v France – 3:00 PM – France is second in Group 7 and needs to win at group leaders Serbia to keep a chance of an automatic qualification spot alive.
Scotland v Netherlands – 2:30 PM (Video Preview) – Scotland needs to win to keep their chances alive but will be in a battle against one of best countries in the world. They will have the advantage of a home crowd at Hampden Park.
Hungary v Portugal – 2:45 PM – Portugal and its biggest star Cristiano Ronaldo are in danger of not qualifying and need to win on Wednesday to keep any hope alive.
CONCACAF (North/Central America)
Trinidad & Tobago v United States – 18:30 PM - (Video Preview) – The United States needs a win on the road to solidify their standings in the hexagonal while T&T has to win to keep any chance alive. If the Americans don’t get any points, it will make for a very interesting finish.
CONMEBOL (South America)
Paraguay v Argentina – 7:00 PM – Argentina needs a win badly as they are on the fringe of qualifying with three matches left. Paraguay has been strong at home and Argentina will be in for a battle.
