French Ligue 1 Recap and Video Highlights: Saturday, September 12, 2009
The French Ligue 1 continued it 2009-10 season with several matches on Saturday. Some of these included Le Mans v Marseille, Bordeaux v Grenoble, and Lyon v Lorient. There were four 1-0 victories for home teams on Saturday and Marseille was the only road team to get a victory. Most of the home teams got victories and draws as it was a low scoring day for the French Ligue 1. Lyon and Bordeaux won to keep pace with each other at the top of the league table. Marseille was the only road team to win as they defeated Le Mans 2-1 and are in 3rd place in the league table.
Grenoble continued to struggle and has yet to earn a point on the season. They’ve only scored two goals in 5 matches and have a -6 goal difference. Overall, the middle of the table is still close as its only the fifth week of the season. Here are video highlights of the matches from Saturday.

I wouldn’t say that Grenoble struggled, at least in the game. They played Bordeaux quite strong, and can take something out of that game. Still, they will have a tough time. I don’t expect Marseille to be in 4th for long either.
Still, the surprise of the season is Montpellier. If the season ended now, they would qualify for a possible place in the Champions League. Don’t expect that to last either.
