BRITAIN SOCCER COMMUNITY SHIELDThe English Carling Cup wrapped up its fourth round (round of 16) matches on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. The favorites on Wednesday advanced as their were any upsets. Two of the matches included Chelsea v Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City v Scunthorpe United. Here’s a recap along with video highlights of both matches.

Chelsea beats Bolton Wanderers 4-0 – Video Highlights

Chelsea shut out Bolton as they scored two first and two second half goals to win 4-0 on Wednesday in the Carling Cup. Salomon Kalou got the scoring started in the 15th minute followed by Florent Malouda’s goal in the 26th minute. Bolton never seemed able to challenge Chelsea, especially once they had a lead.

The second half saw Chelsea score two more with goals from Deco in the 67th minute and Didier Drogba in the 89th minute.

The win puts Chelsea into the quarterfinals. The draw for that round will be released later and matches schedule for late November.

Manchester City beats Scunthorpe United 5-1 – Video Highlights (will be added later)

Man City dominated Scunthorpe on Wednesday in the Carling Cup. City took an early lead as Steven Ireland scored in the 3rd minute and the team never looked back. Scunthorpe temporarily tied it with a goal from Jonathan Forte in the 26th minute but it would only last for 12 minutes. Man City’s Roque Santa Cruz scored in the 38th minute to make it 2-1 at halftime.

The second half was all Man City as Joleon Lescott, Carlos Tevez, and Michael Johnson all scored. Scunthorpe were outmatched from the start and City fielded a strong side.
