CONCACAF 2010 World Cup Qualifying Final Standings: USA, Mexico, and Honduras advance

world-cup-2010The CONCACAF Region (North/Central America) finished is 2010 World Cup Qualifying on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 with all six teams in matches. The United States and Mexico had clinched two of the three automatic qualification spots while Costa Rica and Honduras were in contention for the final spot. If Costa Rica won they would be in while Honduras would qualify with a win and Costa Rica draw or loss.

Costa Rica had a late lead against the United States but failed to hold onto it. Honduras defeated El Salvador 1-0 to move past Costa Rica on goal difference. Costa Rica will now play Uruguay (CONMEBOL 5th place) in a two legged playoff in November.
