Manchester City draws with Fulham 2-2 – Video Highlights
The first half was scoreless as both teams failed to convert chances. Man City had more possession and chances but only one shot on goal. Fulham were not as dangerous in the attack but kept the City offense silent. The second half would see the match pick up and both teams getting more scoring chances.
Fulham should have had the lead in the 47th minute as Clint Dempsey had a shot on goal that Man City goalkeeper Shay Given saved. The rebound fell right to Bobby Zamora who was wide open and missed it high. It was a terrible miss and one that he would have wanted back.
The Zamora miss would come back to haunt Fulham as Man City took the lead in the 54th minute off a corner kick. It was sent in the box, deflected around, and fell to Emmanuel Adebayor who flicked onto goal. As it neared the line, Joleon Lescott made sure it cross the lined with a volley shot. It was poor defending from Fulham off a set piece.
The scoring would continue for Man City as Gareth Barry sent a pass to Martin Petrov who took a great first touch to get past a defender. Petrov then took a shot to the right upper corner and past Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer to make it 2-0. The defense of Fulham was caught flat footed but credit goes to City who picked up their play.
Fulham responded right away to make it 2-1. A cross was sent in to Zamora who chested it back to Damien Duff who. scored on a low shot to the left corner. It was a quality finish and letdown from the Man City defense to let Fulham back in the match.
The away side would level the match six minutes after the Duff goal in the 68th minute. A cross from a set piece was sent in the box by Jonathan Greening and headed past goalkeper Given. Again, it was a defensive lapse from City who had a 2-0 lead eight minutes earlier.
The final 20 minutes were scoreless as it would end in a 2-2 draw. It was a disappointing performance from City who looked in control but Fulham fought back to get the draw.
