UEFA 2010 World Cup Qualifying Final Group Stage Standings and Play-Off matches set – Wednesday, October 14, 2009

The UEFA (Europe) region has finished its group stage of qualification on Wednesday with nine teams earning automatic qualification. The teams that have already qualifed from this region are England, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Denmark.

Here are the final Group Stage standings for the UEFA region along with the top 8 second place teams that have qualified for the play-off round where there are four additional spots available.

The eight best runners-up will be drawn against each other for four two-legged play-offs, with each winner qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. The draw is seeded according to the Fifa rankings (published Friday 16 October). That will determine the top four seeds, who will be kept apart in the draw. On Monday 19 October in Zurich at 1300 BST the draw for the play-offs will be made, along with a separate draw to determine the home teams for the first legs.

The two-legged play-offs will take place on Saturday 14 November and Wednesday 18 November

Automatic qualifiers: Italy, Denmark, Germany, Spain, England, Netherlands, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia.
Play-offs: Bosnia-Herzegovina, France, Republic of Ireland, Russia, Portugal, Slovenia, Greece, Ukraine.
