USA, Mexico, and Costa Rica all win – Recap and Video Highlights – Saturday, October 10, 2009

The CONCACAF region is still very close and all six remaining teams were in action on Saturday, October 10, 2009. The United States could clinch a spot with a win while Honduras and Costa Rica are in 3rd and 4th. Mexico will all but clinch a spot with a win as they have a better goal differential than Honduras and Costa Rica. USA beats Honduras 3-2 – Video Highlights

The United States scored 3 second half goals as they edged Honduras in a very frantic second half. All the goals came in the second half. Conor Casey had two and Landon Donovan scored the other for the USA. Honduras had a chance to tie it up at 3-3 but Carlos Pavon missed a penalty kick in the 87th minute.

Mexico cruises past El Salvador 4-1 – Video Highlights

Mexico remained in 2nd place in the qualification table with a solid 4-1 win at home. The goals were from Blanco, Gonzalez, Vela, and Palencia. El Salvador would get one back in the 87th minute as Julio Martinez scored.

Costa Rica shuts out Trinidad & Tobago 4-0 – Video Highlights

Costa Rica easily beat T&T on Saturday and moved into 3rd place in the qualification table. They had two goals from Alvaro Alberto Chaco Saborio, an own goal from T&T and the final from Walter Centeno.
