AC Milan was in total control of the match but had to hold off a surging Lazio in the second half. Milan would take a 2-0 lead into halftime but Lazio would come out very strong in the second half. Thiago Silva scored on a header in the 21st minute to give Milan the 1-0 lead. The goal came from a set piece and was assisted by Andrea Pirlo.
Only 14 minutes later, AC Milan doubled their lead with a goal from Pato who headed a Ronaldinho cross into the back of the net. It was 2-0 for Milan and they appeared well on their way to another victory.
The second half was in Lazio’s favor as they were clearly the better team. Thiago Silva would score an own goal to put Lazio right back in the match in the 64th minute. The goal came Lazio confidence and they had the Milan defense on their heels for the last 20 or s0 minutes. At times it was shaky defending from Milan and goalkeeper Dida was tested several times by the Lazio attack.
With only a few minutes left to play, Milan still had their 2-1 lead in the match. Lazio continued to get chances but couldn’t convert. Milan would create some chances in the second half but were lucky not to concede another goal as they were outplayed. It was a disappointing last 45 minutes as Milan had dominated the first half and built a solid 2-0 lead.
The match would end at 2-1 as AC Milan would get another win in the Italian Serie A.
