FC Barcelona beats Mallorca 4-2 – Recap and Video Highlights – Saturday, November 7, 2009

The Spanish Primera Division or La Liga had several matches on Saturday including FC Barcelona v Mallorca. Here’s a recap and video highlights of the La Liga match from Saturday, November 7, 2009.

FC Barcelona beats Mallorca 4-2 – Video Highlights

Barcelona took an early lead in the 11th minute as Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent a through ball for Pedro who scored. Despite Barca having about 70% of possession, Mallorca would come back in the 20th minute to tie it up. Nunes would score on a header in the 20th minute from a corner kick to tie it up at 1-1.

As with most clubs playing Barcelona, Mallorca was forced to play defensive for most of the match. Mallorca was able to hold Barcelona scoreless for the next 20 minutes and it seemed like it would be 1-1 at halftime. In the last five minutes, Barcelona would take full control of the match with two goals.

Pedro would score another goal in the 40th minute. Barca had several shots saved and Pedro would convert on a rebound as the Mallorca defense couldn’t keep up. Four minutes later, Thierry Henry would score to make it 3-1. It came on a free kick that was headed by Busquets to Henry who headed it into th eback of the net. The first half ended at that same score.

The second half was more of the same as Barcelona dominated possession and had several chances. Fortunately for Mallorca, they weren’t able to capitalize on any through most of the second half.  In the 87th minute, Barcelona would get a penalty kick as Ibrahimovic was tripped by a defender in the box. Lionel Messi would make the penalty as the goalkeeper guessed the wrong direction. It was now 4-1 and absolutely no doubt who would win this match.

Mallorca would get one goal back in stoppage time to make it 4-2. The goal came from Alhassane Keita who scored on a shot to the bottom right corner. It was too little and too late as Barcelona cruised to a 4-2 win.
