Barcelona dominated possession and chances against Athletic Bilbao but only came away with one point. The loss drops them two second place in the table as Real Madrid now leads by one point. Barca is still undefeated with a 8-3-0 record on the 2009-10 season. Neither team would score in the first half. The second half would be much more eventful as both teams would score.
Barcelona take the lead in the 54th minute as Dani Alves ran onto a through ball and scored on a nice shot from a tough angle. At this point, it seemed Barca would take control and extend their lead but Athletic Bilbao would tie it up. In the 63rd minute, Gaizka Toquero scored for Athletic Bilbao as the defense misplayed a long ball. Toquero made a run behind the defense and had only the goalkeeper to beat to make it 1-1.
Neither team would score in the final 25-30 minutes as it was a disappointing result for Barcelona.
