The final 2010 World Cup spot was determined on Wednesday as Costa Rica and Uruguay played in the second leg of the CONCACAF/CONMEBOL Playoff. Uruguay had a 1-0 lead heading into the second leg at home and held on with a 1-1 draw. They temporarily had a 2-0 lead with a 69th minute goal from Sebastian Abreu but Costa Rica would fight back. They would score only four minutes later as Walter Centeno made it 1-1. Costa Rica still needed another goal but wouldn’t be able to find it as Uruguay would hang on for the draw. They would move onto South Africa with a 2-1 aggregate win.
