Everton interested in Landon Donovan for loan deal in January
Landon Donovan has once again attracted interest from the top European leagues including English Premier League side Everton. Several reports came out on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 that Everton manager David Moyes is interested in signing the USA international on a loan deal (similar to his spell at Bayern Munich last winter). Will Donovan make the move? It’s not known but Everton probably do not have the money for the transfer fee that MLS would ask so it would be a loan/short-term deal. Here are some excerpts of the story from a few different sources.

Everton coach David Moyes hopes to strengthen his injury-plagued squad in the January transfer window and has targeted the 27-year-old Donovan, an international team-mate of the Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard. Donovan is coming off a season where he was named MLS’ Most Valuable Player.
Moyes is unlikely to have money available for permanent signings and needs to bolster a squad depleted by several long-term injuries. The Scot has enjoyed success with loaned strikers from the MLS before, signing Brian McBride for a brief but productive spell during his first full season in charge.
