FIFA 2009 Club World Cup Previews, Predictions, and USA TV Listings
The FIFA 2009 Club World Cup begins this week and wraps up on Saturday, December 19 with the final. The teams that have qualified have all won their region’s club competitions (such as Champions League) and including FC Barcelona, Atlante, Estudiantes, Pohang Steelers, TP Mazembe, Auckland City, and host club Al-Alhi. So, who will win this year tournament? Here’s a list of previews, predictions, and full USA/UK television listings.
Predictions
FC Barcelona are the clear favorites to win the tournament. They are the best team in the field and will continue their great run and add another trophy to the 2008-09 season. Who will they face in the final? The other team getting a bye to the semifinals (besides Barcelona) will be Estudiantes La Plata. The South American club will be the toughest competition that Barcelona will face in the tournament.
The third place match will likely be Atlante facing Pohang Steelers. The winner will be tough to pick but Pohang Steelers will probably win the match as they have less to travel and more of a home field advantage.
