The late match on Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the English Football Association (FA) Cup 3rd round was Reading v Liverpool. Reading, who are in the Championship, have been struggling this season after being in the EPL only a few years ago. Liverpool, who are out of the EPL title race, could redeem their season with a deep run into the FA Cup.

Here’s a recap of the match.

Reading 1-1 Liverpool

It was a dream start for Reading but Liverpool would get an equalizer as the match ended at 1-1. The opening goal for Reading was in the 24th minute as Simon Church scored. The lead was short lived for the home side as Liverpool made it 1-1 with a Steven Gerrard goal in the 36th minute.

Liverpool had the better chances in the match but Reading were solid and made it a tight match. Both teams would have chances late in the second half but it would end in a draw. The replay will be at Anfield with Liverpool once again the favorites to advance to the fourth round.
