Brazil 2-0 Republic Of Ireland (ROI) – Recap and Video Highlights – International Friendly – Tuesday, March 2, 2010

There was one major international friendly match on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 as Brazil faced the Republic of Ireland at the Emirates Stadium in London, England. Brazil remains one of the deepest and most talented teams while the Irish are still feeling the effects of not making the World Cup Finals. It was the first match since Ireland played France and the infamous Thierry Henry handball occurred.

It was an even first half and the Irish were in the match until a mistake. The first goal for Brazil came in the 44th minute as a pass from Robinho was sent into the box and accidentally put into the back of the net by Irish defender Keith Andrews. The goalkeeper Shay Given was behind him and it was an unnecessary and unlucky play for Andrews.

The score would remain 1-0 heading into the second half where Brazil started to take control of the match. After a lackluster first half, almost all the possession was with the Brazilians and they had numerous chances. They failed to convert most but would get the second goal in the 74th minute from Robinho.

The match ended at 2-0 and a decent but not convincing win from Brazil. The Irish had some chances early but faded in the second half against a better team.
