Clint Dempsey plays 30 minutes in Fulham’s 1-3 loss at Juventus in the UEFA Europa League

American and Fulham star Clint Dempsey has been injured since January 17th but returned on Thursday, March 11, 2010. He played 30 minutes in the second half for Fulham in the first leg of the round of 16 against Juventus in the UEFA Europa League.

By the time Dempsey entered the match, Fulham were down 1-3 in the match. Dempsey have no goals or assists in the match. It’s a good sign for the USA and Bob Bradley to see Dempsey back as the knee injury he suffered in January could have been more serious. He should play on Sunday in the EPL match against Manchester United but its not known he if will start.

Dempsey didn’t have a great match but looked like he’s recovered from the injury and did help create some chances. Fulham didn’t play great in the match and Juventus showed why they are a Champions League level side. When he came on, Fulham was looking to get a second away goal and he played more of a second striker behind Zamora rather than his usual role as a wide midfielder. Fulham will play the second leg at Craven Cottage next Thursday.
