Seattle Sounders FC 1-0 Kansas City Wizards – Match Recap – MLS – Saturday, April 17, 2010
The Kansas City Wizards looked to remain unbeaten as they traveled to Qwest Field to take on the Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer. The Sounders entered the match with a 1-1-1 record and inconsistent player through the first three matches. There was another 35,000 in attendance as Seattle continues to sell out every home match.
Seattle would score a late goal to get their second home win of the season and give KC their first loss.
The Wizards played a solid match and looked like they would be able to get a 0-0 draw. The goal was scored by Michael Fucito in stoppage time as the Sounders caught the Wizards defense sleeping on a throw-in. The ball went out of play and Brad Evans threw it in quickly to Fucito who got behind the defense and made it 1-0.
A minute later, KC almost tied the match as Chance Myers got a close range shot but Kasey Keller made a diving save. If the shot was a bit lower, it likely would have scored but it was high enough for Keller to reach with the dive. The loss is disappointing to the Wizards who had a draw in sight but let it slip away.
