Nottingham Forest 3-4 Blackpool – Match Recap – Championship – 11 May 2010
The English Championship promotion playoffs continued to Tuesday, May 11, 2010 with Nottingham Forest hosting Blackpool. It was the second leg of the semifinals with Blackpool holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg. The winner would advance to the final at Wembley Stadium with a chance to play in the EPL next season.
Nottingham Forest would take an early lead but couldn’t hold onto it as Blackpool booked their spot in the promotion playoff final at Wembley.
Robert Earnshaw gave Forest the early lead but a second half hat trick from Dudley Campbell gave Blackpool a 4-3 win. Forest would re-take the lead in the second half as Earnshaw scored a second goal but it wasn’t enough. Stephen Dobbie score the other Blackpool goal while Nottingham’s Dele Adebola scored in the 90th minute.
The win was a surprise as Nottingham had one of the best home records in the Championship and did have an early lead. Blackpool advances 6-4 on aggregate and will place either Leicester City or Cardiff City.
