Brazil, the most successful team in the World Cup, started the group stage with a match against North Korea. It’s a match that would appear to be very one sided but North Korea have shown in AFC World Cup Qualifying they can be a very tough defensive team.

Brazil 2-1 North Korea Recap

It was far from easy but Brazil once again won their opening match with a 2-1 win over North Korea.

The match was scoreless in the first half as the North Koreans did a great job of staying organized while Brazil managed to use the width of the pitch to stretch the defense.

Eventually the Brazilians would take the lead with a 55th minute Maicon goal and extend it to 2-0 with a 72nd minute Elano goal. North Korea would get one back late with an 89th minute Ji Yun-Nam goal to make it 2-1.

Brazil would hold on in the final minutes but the match was a lot closer than expected and North Korea proved they can play solid defense.
