France defeated England 2-1 in an international friendly match at Wembley Stadium in November 17, 2010.

England 1-2 France Recap

It was a terrible start for England as Karim Benzema gave France a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. The goal was a result of a one-two passing combination from Malouda to Benzema and then a great striker inside the near post.

England would continue to struggle to get into the match and France would end up extending their lead in the 55th minute. Bacary Sagna would get behind the defense in a wide position and send a cross into the box for Mathieu Valbuena. The forward volleyed it to the far post and put England in a two goal deficit.

As the match continued in the second half, England would finally find some life with a 86th minute Peter Crouch goal. Crouch volleyed a corner kick sent in by Ashley Young. England continued to push forward for an equalizer but it wasn’t there as they would lose at Wembley.

It will be a disappointing result for England but not totally unexpected with many of their top stars unavailable. France deserved the win and could be back on their way towards being one of the top sides in Europe.
