Celtic v Aberdeen Preview
Celtic manager Neil Lennon
“It’s a cup competition, we’re in the semi-final and there’s a final place there for the taking,” the Celtic manager said. “It’s important for the club and the players to go and play in semi-finals consistently.
“We didn’t do ourselves justice in the last semi-final we played in and sometimes in your career you don’t often get the chance to do it again.
“The players who are here from last year have a chance to remedy that and it will be a new experience for the players who have came in, but they’re here to win medals and trophies and tomorrow’s the opportunity for them to get to a cup final.
“The mental approach to games and the belief in themselves has improved a great deal as the season has gone on.
“But I can’t take anything for granted with a young squad. The fact they are young doesn’t excuse the fact they can go out there and win games and believe in themselves. There is a quiet confidence about them just now.”
“There may be a difference in personnel and formation from both Aberdeen’s point of view and ourselves.” he added, “But we’ve studied the videos and the memories are still fresh from last week.
“Craig Brown is a very shrewd guy, though, and he may have something up his sleeve so we’ll just prepare the team the best we can from our point of view.”
Aberdeen manager Craig Brown:
“We hope that the improvement we have seen in recent games will be maintained.
“But there is always the danger that we slip back into the slackness and we can’t tolerate that.
“It didn’t surprise me at all to see Celtic scoring goals (against Hearts) and playing very well because they are a good team.
“They are top of the league and they deserve to be top of the league.
“We will have to up our game and play to our capability. If we do that, you never know.
“It’s a semi-final and anything can happen.”
