Everton v Reading Preview

Everton manager David Moyes

“It is a night we need the fans right behind the team and supporting us the way they did at Chelsea,” said Moyes.

“For the supporters, the game at Chelsea was probably the best we have been able to give them this season but you always hope that the best is yet to come, so let’s hope that it’s in this game and future games as well.”

“This is the FA Cup, you never know what is going to happen,” declared Moyes.

“Throughout the years there have always been results you don’t expect. We have to make sure this is one we do expect and try to get Everton through. We have got Reading. There can be no other thoughts until after this game.”

“I think Brian McDermott has done a great job down there with his team and he has steadied Reading.

“It wasn’t too long ago they were a Premier League team and we have to be wary of that and they have had some good results themselves this term.”

“We always thought he (Arteta) was a key player for us and we have continued to pick him and play him because we have a lot of trust in him. I feel he is getting better, yes.”

Reading manager Brian McDermott

“It’s a great game, it’s what we want. We’re trying to get into the quarter finals of the FA Cup, we’re playing against a team steeped in history, Everton have a great manager and good players.

“We’re looking forward to going there, having a real go and trying to go through.

“I want it to be a great game, I want to make sure we do the best for our fans, we’ll have a good travelling support, I want them to have a good night, we want to get into the next round.

“It’s important go there well-equipped, knowing what we’re doing, knowing our gameplan. We will attack the game and try to win it.

“We’ve been to Merseyside before, we love going there, they’re real good football people who know their stuff. I’m sure we’ll take a big following – it should be a great night.

“But we’ll only enjoy it if we win and get through to the next round. That’s the only way you ever enjoy a game of football. Getting results – that’s where the enjoyment comes.”
