Dunfermline v Rangers Preview
Rangers manager Ally McCoist
“You can’t really dwell on things for too long but it goes without saying that the result against Falkirk was a massive disappointment.
“I hope it was a shock to the system for everyone because I was low on Wednesday.
“You just hope that everyone is as low as you are and then you get back up in the morning, dust yourself down and you get on with it; that’s what you do at this club.
“Everyone’s the same; the coaches, players and the management and you don’t get time to dwell on results, good or bad, because there is always another fixture around the corner.
“The most important thing is that you learn from the good results and indeed the bad results as well.
“We’ve thought about and looked at the game again and the goals we lost and to be honest I don’t think it was complacency.
“I think it was a lack of an attitude to play at a tempo which we desired.
“Our attitude to play the game was probably fine but just at the wrong tempo.
“We didn’t nearly put the ball in to the opposition’s box quickly enough or often enough and we didn’t put them under pressure.
“For that we got punished.”
“I think that’s an obvious question that’s going to be put to you after a defeat on Wednesday and I can totally understand that,” he said.
“We made four changes on Wednesday night and replaced them with international players.
“So that argument would certainly say that we should have players that are good enough and strong enough to come in and play.
“I firmly believe that we do, I just believe the way we went about the game on Wednesday was the problem not the players.”
“We’ve got a better bill of health. Davie and Lee Wallace are very near to joining the squad again although they still have a little bit to go.
“Kyle Bartley is still a couple of weeks away but apart from that we’re just about at full strength.
“But Dunfermline have started well.
“They have a good young manager in Jim McIntyre and Gerry McCabe as a coach as well.
“So they have got good people at the club and good players that know the game.
“They are more than capable of hurting any team as they showed when they beat Dundee United up at Tannadice.
“The biggest compliment you can pay them is that they look as though they are comfortable in the league and they can handle the pressure that their promotion has brought them.
“It’s going to be a tough game and a big one for them just as much as it is for us.
“We’ll have to be at the top of our game to continue our league form.”

“We’ll need 11 players on top form to have a chance. That’s not being pessimistic – it’s facts. They have better players than us, but that doesn’t always win you the game.
“We need to make sure we are well organized and disciplined, but at the same time we need to take our chances and try to play with a freedom.
“I think St Johnstone have already proved this season what you can do against the Old Firm with a little luck and a good performance.
“It’s something the players should relish and not be fearful.
“There’s a good bunch here and they’ve worked their backsides off in training, and they are looking forward to this game.”
