Man City v Everton Preview
Everton manager David Moyes
“This is like going into a gunfight and I have got a knife so I am going to have to do the best I can.
“We have to find a way of stopping Man City. Let’s not kid ourselves and say we are going to go there and completely outplay them because that is why you pay £30m for a player – if you have that player then you tell him to go out and create.
“At this moment in time we don’t have that so our job is to find ways of getting the job done.
“It was the same last year and we won the games. It was the same in that we needed to go there and find a way of stopping them doing what they do but at the same time also playing our own stuff. I thought they were better last year on the year before and this year they are better again.”
“They are definitely contenders. They will be there. They may not have that experience at the moment that Man United and Chelsea have, but there is a freshness about Man City and their squad is big enough to cope so I would expect them to be there or thereabouts.”
Man City manager Roberto Mancini
“Everton is, for me, one of the best teams in the Premier League because they are a strong team.”
“They work from the first minute until the 93rd minute.”
“And although they sold (Mikel) Arteta, they still have good players. For me, they have really good players.”
“It’s impossible to always play well in all the games that you play.”
“Sometimes it is important to win when you don’t play well.”
“But in Fulham we played very well for 60 minutes because we dominated the game.”
“But there are some moments in the game where you need to defend better because the other team try to score, try to do something in some games for this.”
