English Premier League Recap – 11 February 2012

Below are brief recaps for all the EPL matches played on February 11, 2012.

Man Utd 2-1 Liverpool

The Red Devils go top of the EPL table with a brace from Wayne Rooney. Luis Suarez scored a late goal for Liverpool but it wasn’t enough for a comeback. The win puts Manchester United on top of the table, at least temporarily, with Manchester City not playing until Sunday.

Blackburn 3-2 QPR

The home side took an early 3-0 lead before QPR made it interesting in the second half. QPR’s Jamie Mackie scored both goals but Blackburn held on for the three points. Blackburn are still in the bottom three but level on points with QPR and Wolverhampton.

Bolton 1-2 Wigan

A much needed victory for Wigan who are now one point behind Bolton. Wigan took a 1-0 lead before Bolton leveled the match in the 67th minute. The match winner came from Wigan’s James McArthur in the 77th minute.

Everton 2-0 Chelsea

Everton moved up to 10th place while Chelsea slipped out of the top four. The Toffees took the lead in the 5th minute and extended it in the 71st minute. Chelsea are tied with Arsenal on points but behind them on goal difference.

Fulham 2-1 Stoke

Fulham scored two first half goals and held on for the three points. Stoke’s goal was scored by Ryan Shawcross in the 78th minute. Both teams have 30 points and nine points safe from the bottom three.

Sunderland 1-2 Arsenal

Thierry Henry scored a late goal to give Arsenal the victory. Sunderland took a 1-0 lead in the 70th minute before Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey scored the equalizer. Arsenal are now in 4th place in the league table.

Swansea 2-3 Norwich

Norwich moved up to 8th place with their fourth away win of the season. After Swansea took a 1-0 lead, Norwich scored three straight goals. Swansea would convert a late penalty kick but it wasn’t enough to get a result.

Tottenham 5-0 Newcastle

A dominating performance from Spurs to get their 16th win of the season. Louis Saha scored two goals while Emmanuel Adebayor, Niko Kranjcar, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto scored the others. Tottenham are five points behind league leaders Manchester United.
