Portugal advanced to the semifinals with a narrow but solid 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic. While the Czechs are out of Euro 2012, it is still considered a successful tournament as there weren’t high expectations.

It was a bit of a slow start for both sides with the Czech Republic staying organized to contain the Portugal attack. The match was scoreless until the 79th minute when Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo scored the match winner. Ronaldo scored on a great header that beat Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Overall, it was a strong performance from Portugal as they limited the Czechs to no shots on goal and created several good chances. They will move into the semifinals where they will play either Spain or France.
