Major League Soccer Weekend Preview – 7 July 2012
It’s a busy Saturday in Major League Soccer (MLS) as Sporting KC looks to return to the top of the Eastern Conference standings, San Jose looks to keep their lead in the Western Conference, and Seattle will try to end a nine match winlesss streak.
Below are brief previews for all five MLS matches scheduled for July 7, 2012.
Sporting Kansas City v Houston Dynamo
Sporting looks to win their second in a row and move on top of the Eastern Conference table. After a very strong start, KC has been inconsistent while the Dynamo have struggled in away matches.
Real Salt Lake v Portland Timbers
RSL are winless in their last four matches but are facing a Portland side that has no away wins. Salt Lake have the most home wins (six) in the West have scored only two goals in seven away matches.
FC Dallas v San Jose Earthquakes
The top team (San Jose) in the Western Conference meets the last place team (Dallas). It’s been a tough start for Dallas who struggling to score goals and will have their hands full against the high scoring Earthquakes.
Chivas USA v Vancouver Whitecaps
Both teams have been strong defensively (conceding about a goal per match) but Chivas has only scored 11 goals through sixteen matches. Vancouver are on position to make the playoffs but need get results against weaker teams like Chivas.
Seattle Sounders FC v Colorado Rapids
Seattle’s been in poor form for over a month and will be desperate to break a nine match winless streak. Colorado have lost three of their last four matches and a 2-6-0 (w-l-d) away record.
