Italian Serie A – Match Recaps – 25 August 2012
Juventus blanked Parma at home and Fiorentina came from behind to defeat Udinese in the Italian Serie A on August 25, 2012.
Fiorentina 2-1 Udinese
Fiorentina needed a second half brace from Stevan Jovetic to get the victory in their Italian Serie A season opener. Udinese had a 1-0 lead at halftime thanks to a Maicosuel goal in the 28th minute. Fiorentina responded with Jovetic’s first goal which was a shot that deflected off a defender and over the goalkeeper.
The home side nearly took the lead several times in the second half as a Juventus player cleared the ball off the line and a free kick smacked off the post. The consistent pressure and chances from Fiorentina eventually paid off when Jovetic scored in the first minute of stoppage time.
The striker received a long pass from Alberto Aquilani before dribbling into the box and beating the goalkeeper with a right footed shot.

Juventus 2-0 Parma
Juve scored two goals in a five minute span to open the Italian Serie A season with three points. In the 53rd minute, Kwadwo Asamoah sent a low cross towards goal to which Stephan Lichsteiner made a run into the box and clinically volleyed it into the back of the net. The second goal was a bit fortunate as Andrea Pirlo sent a free kick on goal.
It should have been saved but the goalkeeper was slow to react and fumbled the shot as it apparently crossed the line. Replays show it wasn’t definite if the ball had actually cross the line but nonetheless it was ruled a goal.
Overall, Juventus were the stronger side and would have won by a larger margin if not for a saved penalty kick. It wasn’t there best performance but that is to be expected in the first weekend of the season.
