Spurs rally to deny United

It was a fair result on Sunday as Tottenham scored a stoppage time goal to get a draw against Manchester United. The Red Devils had a 1-0 lead on an Robin van Persie goal but Spurs were the better side for most of the match. Questions will be asked of United goalkeeper David De Gea, who looked a bit weak on the goal, but he did make several solid saves throughout the match.

City & Chelsea gain ground

While United dropped points at White Hart Lane, the second and third place sides both won their matches this weekend. City are now within five points and do have one more match against  United this season. Chelsea are farther back but still have enough matches left in the season to possibly make one last charge for the title.

Newcastle loses again

After their great finish last season, it’s been a disappointing campaign this season for the Magpies. They had a 1-0 lead halfway through the second half but then conceded two goals to Reading’s Adam Le Fondre. Newcastle are only two points above the relegation zone and have lost four of their last five league matches. They’ll need to improve dramatically if they want to finish in the top half and stay clear the bottom three.
